Sometimes you just need a break from work and everyday tasks. Doesn't mean you have to necessarily leave the city. Take a day or two off during the week. If you live in a touristy area, there tend to be less tourist on Tuesday's and Wednesday's and there are always midweek specials at restaurants and museums!

You haven't possibly eaten at even half of the restaurants in your city! (Or if you have, try a neighboring city for small town residents) Most major cities will have Food Tours. This is an awesome way to not only discover new restaurants but also learn some cool background history on your hometown.

5. Visit the local park

Have some books you've been meaning to read? Grab a blanket, some snacks and head to the local park. You'll be amazed at how refreshed you may feel just from some downtime. Sometimes all you need is a breath of fresh air!

6. Local shows/bands

Ever see an ad for a local band playing on a Wednesday or Thursday? Are there local theaters that have plays showing during the week? This is a cool activity to add to your staycation itinerary!

7. Spa retreat

Ahhh. Spa day! Nothing says spa day like making a big ordeal out of it! Book a night at a local hotel known for their good spa treatments. Take this day to truly unwind. After your day at the spa, head to your room with a good book and a nice glass of wine!
